4+ min ago (204+ words) Sunday, 30 Nov 2025 KUALA TERENGGANU: The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department has sufficient personnel to respond, even if floods were to strike all states simultaneously. Its director (Fire and Rescue Operations), Nordin Pauzi, said that in such a scenario, personnel would be directed to switch from 12-hour to 24-hour work shifts. "However, during the recent Typhoon Senyar incident, combined with the monsoon season, which resulted in floods in almost every state, we did not need to extend shifts to 24 hours. This shows that we have not yet utilised 100% of our manpower. Our personnel are still able to work overtime," he said. He told reporters this after visiting the Disaster Operations Room and attending a briefing on the current flood situation at the Terengganu JBPM Headquarters on Sunday (Nov 30). " 123rf HARESH Deol, a 43-year-old sports journalist with the online portal Twentytwo13, was attacked by two men on the streets of Bangsar at 3.30pm, on Nov 25. Attacks on journalists are rare in Malaysia, and we should fight to keep it that way, because journalists perform one of the most vital roles in society today: telling the truth. Sabah polls show even political stalwarts can stumble
53+ min ago (326+ words) KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's highly fluid political landscape means that no one, including political veterans, is spared from the risk of being rejected by voters. This was evident when several seasoned politicians were defeated in the constituencies they contested in the 17th Sabah State Election on Saturday (Nov 29). Among those who suffered such a setback was United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who contested under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) banner in Pintasan in an 11-cornered fight. Despite being a native of Kota Belud and a long-time political figure, these factors did not provide an advantage to the former Dewan Rakyat Speaker, who attempted for the second time to win the same seat after his initial bid in the 16th state election. Pandikar, 70, failed to wrest the Pintasan seat from the same opponent, Datuk Fairuz Rendan, who contested…...
