Green360 carbon-reducing cement substitute meets real-world trials
just now (723+ words) Green360 Technologies has taken a major step towards commercialisation of its highly-reactive "Eco-Clay metakaolin" product, delivering about 60 tonnes of the product to two commercial concrete batching plants operated by a national concrete supplier in Melbourne for full-scale trials in low-carbon concrete mixes. Green360s Eco-Clay is derived from the companys settlement ponds and tailings at its kaolin mining operations in Victoria, effectively transforming waste into a valuable construction material in a textbook example of circular economy innovation. The product is able to partially replace traditional carbon emitting cement powder in the manufacturing of concrete and its source from waste dumps from an unrelated mining operation makes it particularly carbon friendly when it comes to its secondary use " the manufacturing of concrete. The trial material was delivered using standard pneumatic road-going tanker trucks to concrete batching plants in Springvale and Footscray, two suburbs separated…...

Broome RSL leadership aims to usher in younger generation
15+ min ago (617+ words) Evolution and sustainability are the remit of new Broome RSL president Lt-Col Craig Bruhn as he looks to increase membership and support services for members at the town's sub-branch. Recently deployed on operations in the Middle East, Lt-Col Bruhn was working in a secure facility when he stepped outside to check his phone and discovered he had been elected as Broome RSL president. Since his return, the Broome RSL committee has moved quickly to develop a business plan and a new constitution. Lt-Col Bruhn sees engaging the younger generation as a priority. "The challenge for the RSL now is to evolve, and making sure that we don't become irrelevant," he said. "It's a significant challenge. The demographic of the RSL does tend to be older, and so that younger generation isn't necessarily there. "The risk is that down the track…...
People with ADHD to save thousands as GPs gain skills
24+ min ago (426+ words) Families with ADHD could save thousands of dollars a year as GPs are given more powers to treat the condition. A growing number of GPs can help continue prescriptions for ADHD patients over the age of six in NSW after the state government passed reforms expanding the toolbox for doctors who undergo specialist training. As a result, those with ADHD may no longer be forced to endure long waits for costly psychiatrist appointments when their prescription runs out. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a condition that affects a person's ability to control their thoughts, actions and emotions, which can impact their relationships and performance at school or work. With estimates of up to 175,000 children and 632,000 adults living with the condition in NSW, out-of-pocket savings could total $1.13 billion per year, according to the Royal Australian College of GPs. Given genes can…...

Venus says hold fire on unsolicited low-ball takeover bid
1+ hour ago (596+ words) Venus Metals has urged shareholders to sit on their hands and ignore the noise after private company QGold launched an unsolicited, low-ball takeover bid for the Western Australian exploration company this week. The 17-cent cash offer, unveiled in a bidder's statement yesterday, landed with all the fizz of a flat beer - at a zero premium to the last closing price and, according to the company, nowhere near the value of what is really under Venus' bonnet. The bid, spearheaded by billionaire coalman Chris Wallin through his private QGold vehicle, is unconditional and will run until at least 16 January next year. Using Venus' own numbers, QGold's 17-cent bid pegs the entire company at roughly $33.3 million. However, once the balance sheet is fully unpacked, that figure begins to look a little opportunistic. First cab off the rank is a one per cent…...
